Q I am constructing a new house and wanted to know if Italian marble was a good choice with respect to durability. I would also like to know about trends in flooring other than tiles. I am keen to use Italian marble in the lobby and dining area (about 850 sq ft), to give it a luxurious look.

Q We just installed an air-conditioner in our apartment, but did not realize it would be accompanied by ugly and bulky transformers that are difficult to hide, and spoil our furniture layout. We wanted to place them on brackets on the external face of the apartment wall or inside a cupboard, but neither option was acceptable to the vendor. He refused to give a warranty under those circumstances. They generate heat, make a humming noise and take up floor space, while looking ugly. What should we do?
