Q I read your Q&A section often. I was wondering if you could help with one of our long unattended issues — damp walls. My house is on the third (topmost) floor of a building. It's open on all sides with a terrace above. While the walls near the ceiling are completely damp, there is no dampness on the ceiling itself. The terrace is relatively clean with some pots at quite a distance from the point where the dampness is seen below. Though the house is about 30 years old, the external plaster is in relatively good shape, without any visible rough surfaces or hairline cracks. The external face of the building does turn black, and the paint keeps coming off the internal walls in the monsoon. How can we solve the issue?

Q Our marble flooring is slowly discolouring and exhibiting dirty yellow stain-like patches. Even the joints are opening up. Any suggestions?
