Q I am in the process of redoing my bungalow in Pune, and would like to know where in Mumbai can I get marble engraving done on travertino (as seen in a project by Karim Furniturewala, Better Interiors, June 2007 issue). I also liked the intricate jaali-work done below the gold leafing in the same project.

Q I picked up a cleaning agent advertised as a wonder product on TV, and used it on my cement chip floor only to find it leaving behind blue coloured (hand-stroke) marks that soon turned black. What should I do?

Q The flooring of my children’s room features the highly porous and soft Egyptian marble. A couple of spills of juice and aerated drinks have left ugly patches all over. I would like to opt for something different, but not the usual wooden laminates, tiles, etc. Please keep in mind the room belongs to two devils who do not understand the meaning of the word “careful”. I am prepared to remove the original flooring, in case the new option so demands.
